Festival of Quilts.
Having had a hectic summer that necessitated me taking a bit of a sabbatical, I am trying to make a come-back, there is a bit of back posting to do but there will be large holes in the journal. We’re now on holiday staying with Sis in the home counties and having driven down from Roslin yesterday, we drove back up to Brum today to visit the Festival of Quilts.
We had barely started the journey when we were delayed by half an hour by a Mini on fire and had the pleasure of watching the emergency vehicles racing past us on the opposite carriageway before turning around and haring past us again on ours. There was no mention of it in the news so we assume that the car’s occupents did the sensible thing and evacuated their car and ran to safety.
This quilt by Constanze Botel and Britta Beutnagel is based on a photograph of the elderly father of one of them and attracted a lot of attention. There was a steady stream of models with mobile phones for my benefit. It was good to see a few exhibits displaying a sense of humour, and a significant section devoted to children’s work.
