Felt like I finally got into the swing of this amazing festival city today.
Book festival in the sun, and a chance meeting led to me getting a ticket to see Ali Smith chat to Jackie Kay-brilliant stuff. Smith read from her new novel Autumn that she only submitted on Monday-very good.
Dashed up to the Hub to meet visitors from Adelaide-some interesting possibilities to explore.
Back home and did some clearing up before back out-to St Matthew Passion (extra). Just perfect musically (despite cramped and uncomfortable seat up in the gods!). Was mesmerised by John Eliot Gardiner's incredibly expressive hands.
