Hairy Jacket & Golden Goose, London
An unbelievably hectic day today work wise. I had a job which involved shooting classic cars in one of our galleries - one of which was an Austin Princess hearse once owned by John Lennon. It was a very curious vehicle - it's back seats were former airline seats!
What I didn't know was that a press call was also going to take place, so instead of having the gallery more or less to myself I was suddenly surrounded by about another fifteen photographers. At this point one of my lenses decided to give up the ghost so I was left with a wide angle and a 70 - 200 - the beads of a cold sweat started to form, but sometimes you just have to make the best of things and get on with it.
Also, during and after the press call I had to fit in jewellery and watch shots featuring the cars and paintings on the wall. I was exhausted by lunchtime. I managed to get out for a very quick drink and then had to get back to edit all the images down and on to the server.
It was the last day for our lovely HR lady who was being made redundant so in the late afternoon I took over a large bottle of prosecco to share with her and the rest of my colleagues. We will all miss her friendliness, good humour and big smile - it seems such a shame as she was so good at what she did so I don't quite understand why she was going.
Come five o'clock it was time to get my train home and on the way to the station I managed to take this quick shot. Then it was off the train at West Malling and straight to the pub to sit in the garden with a lovely cold pint.
