Not Yet Whole Again

Louie - yes, he's still here and he has been and is still going through a very heavy moult, in fact the heaviest of his life, I have followed him through his 3 years, although not so aware of his first, but aware of his second and now 100% committed of his third and this really has been his harshest yet - from the loss of his tail, to the demise of his breast feathers and now the moulting of his head plumage - he has been through the mill, he had been dragged through several hedges backwards - but he's getting there.  It has been a great self conscious embarrassment for him, robins and especially the ones I have known have always been so very proud of their appearance - have spent ages in the bath, forever preening and smoothing their feathers down and for this to happen is utterly devastating for them - and Louie has certainly been most upset!  But he has stayed true to me and I do not laugh or poke fun, I only support and tell him constantly just how handsome he is!

The book I have been 'meant' to be writing now for a while has started - about my wild life with robins - follow the progress here (sorry, it is Facebook!) ;) xx
