Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Lots of activity!

What a great day of activity I had. Watching lots of activity, that is... The track and field events have started, finals in the rowing, tennis semis, the heptathlon, badminton, beach volleyball, and of course, when Usain Bolt comes on the scene things hot up. Team GB are doing really well.

JR was very active all day too - gardening and housework. Actually, I did have a brief spurt and used the new extendable clippers and finally snipped the annoying long bits of hedge that I couldn't reach.

Archie was very active too - he went off with Elizabeth for the day, and they went their usual very long walk (she sent this photo) and spent some time in the cafe when they came back. He'll sleep tonight! Unlike last night, when he had a wee wander and tried a few times to be invited up on the bed - to no avail, it still being dark. So he wandered into the kitchen for a drink, and even into the bathroom to raid the supply of face clothes, which he loves doing but knows it's out of bounds. Eventually he went back to bed with a resigned sigh and settled down to await his invitation at a more reasonable hour.

We did have vague plans to pop down the High Street to pick up Fringe tickets, but when I put the TV on, those thoughts were abandoned.

I picked up a couple of excellent outdoor chairs at the rubbish bin today. In perfect condition, but just don't fold up. We certainly have plenty of outdoor chairs now. Wish we could make a bit more use of them. Though they say next week will bring warm weather. Which figures, as the schools go back on Monday...
