Glen Sannox
No early walk for me and no early run for TT, though the others did golf. It had rained a lot during the night, but it was a lovely, if windy, morning. After breakfast we three headed out for a walk up Glen Sannox, which was right on our doorstep. We stopped and explored the cemetery as we had read that a previous owner of our holiday home was buried there. We also found the grave of the man who was found murdered on Goatfell in 1909!
We walked up the Glen, looking up at the hills. It was very windy, so not a day to be going up them. The path follows the course of the burn up the glen, passing by the remains of the baryte mines. We kept going deeper into the glen feeling like we were walking to the end of the world, with the mountains towering over us. Had it been less windy, with less of a chance of rain, it would have been lovely to have brought a picnic, but we decided on our stopping point, and then headed back down the glen.
BB was getting hungry so we headed to a café in Lamlash for a late lunch. The weather had turned much greyer and cooler, so we didn’t linger long in Lamlash. We stopped off in Brodick for BB and TT to play crazy golf, but the rain started, and it was a bit grim.
Later on, we all headed to a lovely restaurant in Pirnmilll (where it was much brighter) for tea. TT had guinea fowl – while thinking about the crazy pack of guinea fowl that had wandered around the grounds of our holiday home in Devon!
We then came home and all watched a rubbish film!
Here are the boys walking up Glen Sannox. The extra is BB and his rock art!
