The air lift

It's a new event for the AOG 2016 and the wasps are exceeding all expectations with their air lifting capabilities.  With two medics on the sidelines for safety, this was certainly an indication of being pushed to the limits.

In the real news... I spotted some buzzing activity underground just the other day and noticed these common wasps seemed to be taking great chunks of something out in their jaws.  They weren't around a couple of days ago but were active again today.  At first, I thought they were taking this stuff elsewhere for a nest but I now wonder if their nest is in there and they're perhaps clearing it out to make it larger?  Maybe someone knows?
