A butterfly garden

Dear Diary,

Finally, we are getting a bit of rain.  It isn't steady but today we will get more showers which are desperately needed.  I can almost hear my garden singing with joy!  My new meditation garden is loaded with Liatris and the butterflies and bees love it.  This is a Meadow Frilliary sitting atop a Laitris stalk and just below it I counted five bees!

I am going to plant a lot more Laitris bulbs in the fall.  They are hearty and drought tolerant but most importantly the butterflies and bees love them.  With all the yellow in the garden at this time of year there beautiful red-violet color is most welcome too.

I am going to a matinee at the Barnstormer's Theater this afternoon for my annual Agatha Christie play then out to an early dinner at a nice restaurant.  My treat for the week.
