Nailed It!

Walking away from town to Bruntsfield this morning, it was as if we had suddenly inhabited an alternative universe. We crossed the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links as the crow flies, dodging the pitch and putt enthusiasts and encountering only one road and not a single stravaiging tourist- the Festival is elsewhere.

The sun did what it does best this summer by teasing us with blue skies just long enough to imagine they might last all day, before the clouds rolled in and rain looked to threaten.

This nail bar and beauty salon caught my attention by trying so hard to be summery and enticing with its garland of flowers round the window.

I intend to avoid the crowds this afternoon as I capitulate and take the bus to meet up with daughter #1 as she holds the fort in an art gallery on the other side of town.
It may be a slow journey but at least I get a little bubble of space to myself, while the bus negotiates the maelstrom in the city centre.
