History on my doorstep...
Chadkirk Chapel and Country estate lies about a five minute walk from my house. Romiley was referred to as 'Rumelie' in the Domesday Book, a name derived from the Anglo Saxon word meaning 'spacious woodland clearing'.
Romiley's Chadkirk Festival, now in its 16th year, is one of only a handful of festivals celebrating the ancient tradition of well dressing. My blip shows the ancient St Chad's Well where the art of pressing flowers, leaves and seeds into clay creates an artistic and colourful picture. The festival took place last weekend, but I wasn't able to go. Thankfully, the dressing will remain in place for a couple of weeks.
Jasper update: He seems well and happy.
Although he is enjoying his new food he is DEFINITELY missing his biscuits. He seems very "chilled" considering what he has been through but I think that might be the effects of his tablets.
