It is Friday
Trauma - our programmed band had double booked and they even decided to go with the other booking - maybe they got paid better!! But from the ashes rose the phoenix of the "Pussycat Band" of birthday boy Harold Salisbury (sax), the wild Norman Helm (bass) and meistro John Moore (guitar ). And you will already have noticed - no drums - and it was a refreshing change to appreciate these three guys playing together and especially their solos.
And for Harold's birthday a song was sung to his great surprise and he did not know who to blame for this revelation. Actually according to Harold's Facebook he was 77 but many of us know that he is over 80!!
Anyway a great night and I somehow managed to paint Norman (on the left) less wild than he is! - as you can see from a previous one - his expressions during his bass solos cannot be fully captured by watercolour - a combination of moving facial features and awesome bass sounds that leaves you mesmerised.
