Fleurs de la Minx

We did a bit of gardening on Sunday. We set the kids - Dan, Abi and the miniMinx - loose on the lawn, although that turned out to be a bit more of a mission than we thought it would be. At some point during the day, the Minx brought in some flowers from the garden and put them in vases for my bedroom and Izzy's.

It's an odd failing of mine that when I am given a present, although I am genuinely thankful at the time, I get a deep, fundamental reverberation of gratitude a few days later. Out of the blue, I suddenly appreciate how much thought or effort went into a gift or action. And then I feel bad for not having felt that so strongly at the time.

And so it was this morning when I thought about the Minx going out to cut the flowers, getting the vases and water, and bringing them to our rooms. So thoughtful, so loving. I wish I could get that appreciation to occur a little more promptly, rather than having this bizarre digestion period.
