English Channel

Today I signed up to swim the channel next year. I'm doing it as a relay. Luckily I know all bar one in the team.
The boat is being booked for July. Between now and then I have to do a two hour swim in water less than 15 degrees with just a costume and no wetsuit. You aren't allowed to wear a wetsuit when you do the channel swim. I'll have to get used to swimming with jellyfish around me...I'm not looking forward to that. I'll have to get used to swimming in the dark. I actually don't like the sea as I get seasick. I'm actually wondering why I've signed up.
But I'm doing it for a charity. I'm challenging myself to the max with this one. It's always been at the back of my mind to do this. If I train for it I'll do it. You only live once so I might as well make the most of my days.
Plenty of cold water dips for me coming up. I've got to swim the length of Coniston in September. That will be good practise to start with.
