A Painted Lady
I worked my way through a mountain of ironing this morning and I kept looking at the sun out of the window. So after lunch M and I decided to make the most of the good weather and went exploring on Southrepps Common. This is a nature reserve and a SSSI and includes a variety of wild flowers and reed bed plants, there is a convenient boardwalk which links up to other footpaths and a circular walk.
We spotted a painted lady as soon as we arrived, then other butterflies too, including a small white, some ringlets and a comma. We also saw a reed bunting, kestrel and some buzzards floating on the thermals high up in the sky. Oh...and a large brown rat!
A lovely walk in the late afternoon sun...the ironing was long since forgotten.
Just living is not enough said the butterfly, one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower.
