Flow Rider
For those who follow my journal probably saw I had a two day shooting opportunity at Dutch Water Dreams.
Yesterday I entered a high shutter speed freeze frame of a kayak on the artificial Olympic! rapids.
Today I entered the indoor world of the flow riders. I shot many kids having the time of their life and it was a tough choice with so much material. There was one big challenge whilst shooting... it was so humid and moist inside that my lens got dim every 30 seconds. So I had to run inside... shoot some quick pics.... go outside and dry my camera because it not that good for electronics.
I chose this one with al longer shutter speed in combination with my speed flash.
The boy makes a sharp turn and the water spray exactly captures the speed dynamic as I wanted to.
Hope you like it.
More in depth info:
A FlowRider generates a permanent, artificial wave, approximately 2 metres high. Water is pumped around in the FlowRider® at an average speed of 50 km/h. The bottom layer of the FlowRider® is made of a soft material and when water flows across it, it feels like a judo mat. It doesn't hurt when you fall and that means the FlowRider® is safe for board sports. The FlowRider® was developed by Tom Lochtefeld and has already been installed in several places in the USA including San Diego and Miami.
