Herring Gull
This magnificent Herring Gull, gave me a problem initially as I thought it may have been an Iceland Gull or even a Great Black-backed Gull in juvenile plumage. Those two Gulls from the book have red dots on their yellow bills, as does my Herring Gull, so not the best instant identification marker I thought it was. The Herring Gull is an opportunist feeder, eating anything vaguely edible and stealing a fisherman's Herring catch no doubt!
This bird is in perfect condition and even if you are not fond of Gulls this is a magnificent specimen, you have to agree!
