Another Dragonfly In the Garden

Its hot and dry here in Texas and we have spent much of the time indoors or if we can get the time, down the local outdoor pool.  L gets to walk in the mornings early before it gets too hot, but during the day it is just uncomfortable.  The garden is a source of life in the summer though and though we have mosquitos with having 2 ponds in the back, it seems nature has its own method of dealing with the pests - Presenting 'The Dragonfly'.  Apparently these beautiful insects were around 100 million years before the dinosaurs and have changed little since then.  The other interesting thing about them is that they are very skilled hunters and have been known to catch and eat butterflies and moths.  But one of their favorite foods is - yep you guessed it - Mosquitos!  Anyway, this is a different species from my previous blip, but again found in our back garden and I was fortunate enough to get a pose.
