Note to Self
After some jobs this morning, I went for a bracing walk through the nearby windy lanes. The oilseed rape and wheat are ripening, and already, the woodpigeons and linnets are gathering for the impending feast. On my way I spotted this tree full of crabapples. Many were split - probably because of recent dry weather, but there may well be enough to make that most delicious of preserves - crabapple jelly, perhaps flavoured with rowan berries or herbs. I shall return.
