For Sale
I've walked by this car many times and wanted to take a shot of the "For Sale" sign and the ragged bit of tape that's not quite holding it in place. Today the reflection of the church across the street caught my eye too.
What a great day we had at the Music and Garlic Festival yesterday! Almost 11 hours of terrific music, interesting booths to take in, and of course lots of delicious food featuring garlic. We sampled slices of baguette spread with roasted cloves of garlic then had an all-day breakfast bun mid-afternoon with egg, cheese, lettuce, smoked salmon, garlic butter and garlic mayo. Yum!
Rain was forecast, but we didn't get a drop. Perfect weather, mixed sun and cloud, not too hot. Perfect venue in a huge field. A perfect festival for all the family.
Valdy and the Hometown Band were fantastic, just as we knew they would be. I could listen to Claire Lawrence play the sax all day and night. There was a great variety of other music. Some links:
Graham Wordrop- an amazing guitarist who did an interesting version of Space Oddity.
Shred Kelly - a high energy young band of self-described "ski bums" from Fernie, a small town in southeast BC, that got the crowd up dancing
Maureen Washington- originally from Prince George where we lived for a few years. We knew her dad and brothers. :) She sang a very moving rendition of Neil Young's Harvest Moon and told the story of how she had to leave right after her performance at last year's garlic festival because her husband was so sick. He died shortly after but was still alive for the performance in the link. She sang with such emotion, and I couldn't help but cry.
