Dune du Pilat

We all gave all we had to climb this famous dune, which is the largest in Europe.

It was pretty hot and the ascent was not easy although it was over quickly. It was fantastic to be up there and the views over the forests and bays were amazing.

The descent at a full-out run was a lot of fun. One of us did a spectacular somersault as she ran down.

As I can't link on my phone, here is a bit of info - fascinating stuff - I once loved geography....

"It is located in La Teste-de-Buch in the Arcachon Bay area, France, 60 km from Bordeaux. Characteristics. The dune has a volume of about 60,000,000 m³, measuring around 500 m wide from east to west and 2.7 km in length from north to south. Its height is currently 110 meters above sea level."
