Door handle it is not!

This chest is in Wellington Museum and was originally used for the wages at the local factory Fox's so I was told. It is all of iron construction and has a false keyhole on the front to fool would be brigands along with an iron bar! The lock mechanism is levers and bars and is a lovely piece of simple engineering and practical. The picture shows it in the locked position.
