Fighting the system, fighting for a life
4th August 2016:
This is Irene Kayange. She is 15 and just finished Form 2, in Chiunde CDSS. She has 2 brothers and 1 sister and lives about about 3 hours walk to school.
She was living with parents but she decided to stay at the hostel because it's too far from her parents home to school. Because of the poverty in her family it was difficult for her to continue her education because of the cost of school needs which means money, but her parents are very poor and old. Her sister and brothers didn't go further with their education but all got married into poor families.
Term 1
Chichewa 40%
English 43%
She was suspended after the two exams because of non payment of fees. She then heard about Wells for Zoë and came to us.
Term 2
Agriculture 60%
Biology 39%
Chichewa 67%
Computer Study 24%
English 58%
Geography 56%
History 65%
Maths 22%
This is a great set of results in Term 2 and shows what can be achieved with a little help from your friends.
It's nothing amazing but just a little of the Good Samaritan effect, practised quietly and calmly by so many people all over the World, with numerous faiths and none.
She is a lovely little woman and certainly does her best, and who knows what is yet to come.
