The Shadow We Cast

Dear Diary,

Last Saturday I went and made two copies of the finished family chronicle.  Since it was over a hundred pages of color copying it was a bit expensive but I had to do it so I could give copies to my brother and sister.  While not as good as the original printed chronicle, at least they will have it to read over.  This is one of the photographs, which I hand colored, in it.

These are my great grandparents, Augustus and Emma, on their 55th wedding anniversary June 8, 1928.  They were married 68 years when Augustus passed away in 1941.  Emma was married on her birthday, when she was 20 years old, in 1873.  Her daughter, Mary my grandmother, was married on my grandfather's birthday in 1912 and her father died on her birthday.  So many happy and sad anniversaries sharing the same date.

The shadow in the photograph is my grandfather taking the picture.  He was always taking pictures.  I am sure he could never imagine that this old photograph, nearly 90 years later, would float around the world for all to see.  We all cast long, long shadows don't we....
