Making the base for Banksia Nut C/stick.....
..... the process of.
I decided to make a base for the C/stick I have turned because I felt it was not stable enough to stand by itself safely especially with a candle in it.
Thought you like to see the process of how I am going to make the base.
The main shot is a round piece of wood which acts as a 'Chuck' to hold the base onto whilst I turn it. I have covered it with glue after which I put the newspaper over it, then put some more glue over the paper and then the base I am going to turn onto the glue, Extra 1,
I then put the whole lot into a vice and tighten as much as possible, I have also added a 'C' clamp for added tightness. Extra 2,
I now have to leave this to set for at least 24 hours before I can attach it to the lathe and turn. Will blip a shot of that later.
Extra 3 gives you an idea of what the C/stick will look like on the base which will be, in fact, round after turning. The base is a piece of Black walnut from my box of bits of wood.
There is quite a lot more to turning a C/stick than one thinks.
I hope this is of interest to you.
Hope you have all had a nice weekend.
Take care.
