One-Third of $230 and 29 Pounds

That's how much of this superb wild king salmon we bought tonight at the annual NSEA (Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association) "Salmon at the Bay" event!

Phil (left) and I shared the winning bid on the live auction for this magnificent wild king salmon, caught off Neah Bay, Washington, with NSEA supporters DB (back) and WS (front right). Jeremy (center), originally from Truro, Cornwall, was the auctioneer, as well as the fisherman who caught this fine specimen and donated it to the NSEA event.

Each third of the winning bid should end up with six or seven pounds of outstanding king salmon steaks for their $76.66 (62 Euro/49 GBP) -- a win-win for those bidders and for NSEA!

The salmon dinner on tonight's menu was value for money as well -- $20 / 13 GBP / 16 Euro for grilled wild king salmon, quinoa salad, green salad with walnuts and feta cheese, pickled vegetables, corn on the cob, a selection of breads, herb butter, and local ice cream (vanilla) and strawberries.

The event was held in Boundary Bay Brewery's beer garden, with four different beers available on tap, including Chinook IPA, honoring our much-loved salmon. We went to "Salmon at the Bay" with our friends A and C, and ran into many other friends and neighbors there, making it an especially fine evening!
