Day 156- Brisbane

So today is prison day. Me,Kirstie and Terry went to Boggo prison. It was so good. The first Sunday of every month the tour is run by a ex inmate. His name is Mark he was in Boggo in 1978 for 17 years he was the last person on the bread and water punishment. He was one of the people that was involved in the 1983 riots at the prison. Mark was a lovely guy, he was sent to the prison for armed robbery and then was involved in a manslaughter. After spending 17 years there, after his release a judge told him he should of only probably done 5 years, as he wasn't involved in the manslaughter as much as he thought. He took it on the chin.  One guy he was in Prison with called 'spider' was one of the most dangerous, in his time there he was involved/commited 17 murders and turned 42 people into murderers. He was also in prison with a guy called Nathan Jones who was 7 foot tall and he was it fits of giggles telling us the story of how prison officer's would bang on his cell being all power headed and then when he came out of his cell they would shake like a leaf haha he also bent a steel door in half! Nathan jones is now a actor and just resently starred in the new mad max movie! Crazy how some things work out!! Some of the beating sticks and things they used to get punished with were crazy! He also said they used to get hit around the head with a bunch of up to 36 keys! This is the cell block that Mark was in, the general area and cells were really small. He generally seemed like a happy guy and he was really informed about the prison and dates so I definately recommend :) we came back and had a little walk tried to go up the meriton (tallest building in brisbane) but we wernt allowed boo. Had a power nap and then fajitas with the girls :)
