Rust...
...on a defunct and derelict eyelet, on the North Pier at Tynemouth for Derelict Sunday this week. Thanks to admirer for hosting in August!
It was a beautiful day at the seaside - though rather breezy. We walked along to the Lowlight in North Shields to see the exhibition by the Shipyard Painters - as one person was overheard to say, they knocked the Pitmen Painters into a cocked hat... Lots of scenes from my youth depicted here - including the iconic launches of the supertankers from the Tyne.
On the way back a detour down the pier was felt necessary - it was just the day for it, with a sea breeze, fluffy white clouds and the occasional wave breaking over the pier wall. The eyelet in the blip would have been used during the construction of the pier, holding in place cranes etc as they worked their way seaward. I have blipped a similar shot in the past - but it included the view behind the eyelet rather than through it...
