Striking a pose
The pace of life is getting too much -- here I am posting Friday's blip on Saturday evening, after another full day. Thursday evening's acts were such huge fun that Friday's could only be a let-down, and they were. The evening started at six with traditional banda Tonton a faim, last seen here. And yes, the little lad is still playing trombone, and it's still taller than he is. While they played, we drank rosé (other colours are available and were indulged in too). Then the banda led off to the terrain des fêtes for the meal. Ingrid and I were skipping this, but as we chatted to my neighbour Lucienne and the person normally known as Le Pastre (because he used to be a shepherd), he suggested that we should come and dine with him. He used to be married but is now a very confirmed bachelor. Arriving at his house, he picked some very fine tomatoes, green peppers, and a large salad onion from the garden. Then somehow it worked out that he sat at the table and drank wine, and Ingrid and I made salad. But to be fair he did fry half a dozen eggs (from the hens clucking in the garden), and got us to slice up some melon for afters. We enjoyed our simple meal and chat, and he enjoyed the company, so it was a winner all round.
By the time we got to the terrain, Les Barbeaux had already started playing. This meal plus concert normally attracts large crowds (we've been known to have 700+ people when there's a big-name band, with more arriving for the concert). So we were surprised to find only about 100 people there, some of whom were already leaving. I've seen the band before -- they're OK, but nothing special. And they played a very short set; I was home before midnight.
Incidentally, Chaiselongue blipped the band in 2012, and the violinist is still wearing the same outfit!
PS can't believe how many photos of people I've blipped recently! A few more in extras.
