Migrant in Moscow

Rare Sighting (Moskvitch 400)

I came across this old banger* on the outskirts of Moscow tonight.  Near to the settlement of "Trudovaya"; which incidentally means "work" - which this car has certainly done over it's lifetime.  Nice colours, nice light too.

I have no idea what it is - unfortunately, it turned off before I could get a good look at the insignia on the front.

Post blip note:  I'm told it's a Moskvitch 400.  Modelled on an Opel Kadett KJ38 and reportedly built from plans seized in Germany as reparations after WWII. Manufactured between 1946 and 1954.  A fascinating history: more here.

* Banger (n): an old decrepit car  [Wikipedia says that "the origin of the word (banger) is unknown, but could refer to the older poorly maintained vehicles' tendency to back-fire".]
