Hebden Bridge/'Metropolis'
Back for another black and white film at the Picturehouse in Hebden Bridge! When I came and watched 'Helen of Four Gates' a couple of weeks ago, I was given a brochure for the festival and I saw they were showing 'Metropolis', today. I mentioned it to Simon and we decided to come along.
He had a shoot to do, this morning, so we were only able to meet up just before the film started: long enough to get a beer and bag of Revels, though. The film has been resequenced and lost footage has been re-inserted after a full but damaged copy of the film was discovered in a museum in Argentina in 2008. It does mean quite widely varying quality when you hit the re-inserted sections but, actually, it wasn't a problem. And even though it's two and half hours long, there was an interval facilitating a second beer. More of this in cinemas!
After the film, Simon had to head back into Manchester for a birthday bash but the Minx walked down from our AirBnB and we went out for cracking meal in an Italian restaurant we found towards the back of the town centre.
