If you can't beat them...

Venus Flytrap

Another day pottering round home and lacking inspiration for blip coupled with having to wait in in the morning for a man coming to do a quote.   I took a few bird shots and wandered round the garden looking at flowers and insects.

Finally I looked at indoor plants and decided on using the macro lens on the Flytrap.  If you look carefully you can see the three trigger hairs on the side of each leaf.  A fly must touch at least two of these as it wanders in the leaf before it springs the trap.

Many people kill their flytraps by a combination of watering with tap water and pestering them to death.  They trigger the leaf to see it close.  However the leaf can only close 2 or 3 times before it dies.  The chemicals in tap water damage the roots they must only be watered with rain water.
