I went to the cinema and watched Maren Ade's Toni Erdmann!
A critics' favorite at Cannes, her comedy drama is an intelligently written and often absurdly funny film that also reveals the tragedy of an estranged family and the dark absurdities of a modern globalized capitalism. Also: wonderful performances by Sandra Hüller and Peter Simonischek who portray the multi-faceted father-daughter duo.
