32670 and 1638 off shed for today's services.

A further day spent in the quiet of Wittersham Road signal box. Not on my own today as a trainee crossing gate keeper was with me for the day gaining experience in opening and closing Wittersham Road gates. Not an onerous job but as with any task on the railway proper training has to be given and a passing out turn undertaken before you're qualified to do the job.

Wittersham was not that quiet today, probably the busiest I've ever seen it in the 4 years I've been there. Three people actually joined the train at the station (almost unheard of) and travelled to Bodiam and back on the Victorian train hauled by Terrier 32760.

At the same time a couple of people were watching the crossing move, taking photos and generally getting excited by the action. And, as usual, when there is a crossing move everyone on the down train waiting at the platform get out to watch the up train cross with theirs on the through line. Watching the signalman do the token exchange on the balcony, wondering if it would be dropped. (it wasn't)
