I feel the need to have a rant and get opinions.

This year for Christmas I found the perfect present for Mum and Dad, it was quite expensive, more than $150 but less than $200. I took Erin down the next day and showed her and a few days later I bought it.

I asked her today when I heard her counting her stash of money if she was going to chip in for any of the present. She said ?No this is my savings for Australia? when I informed her that I had paid for the present out of my Uni, Car and Mac savings all for next year she got angry and told me to get out of her room.

Her allowance is $40 a month, from what Mum tells me most of that is put on her two cell phones and the rest on movies with friends and a small amount to her savings. My view was that I earn just under $100 a week. ¾ into my savings for Uni, Car and a Mac and then the rest gets left on my card to live on. I see it as fair to ask her to chip in even a little, maybe even twenty bucks. Maybe more?

Is this fair or am I being unreasonable?
If this is fair, how much should I ask of her?

Thoughts please

And I do know and believe that this isn't what Chirstmas is about :) Which is why I am now asking myself what the big deal is about, maybe I'm the selfish one?
