Firstly thank you all for your lovely comments, hearts and stars to do with my competition award. Your good wishes mean a lot to me. 
Here is the view from our living room into the new extension. Our painters couldn't meet our painting timescales so Rob is doing the ceiling and I will help with the walls at the weekend. It is strange, but satisfying, for Rob to have to use a pole to reach the ceiling (he is 6'6"). One of the reasons for the height of the ceiling is so he has one room where he can actually stretch!
