Olympic Day

We've had a great day at the Olympics today, despite a terrible journey this morning. I decided to avoid the queues for the high speed link at St Pancras and instead drove to South Ruislip with a view to getting on the Central Line and going straight through to Stratford. Stupid idea! Central Line was suspended from Liverpool Street so we ended up getting off at Holborn, getting the Piccadilly Line to Kings Cross, then getting the Hammersmith & City Line to West Ham. Its then a 20 minute walk into the Olympic Park. We left home at 7.00am and took our seats in the stadium just before the first event at 10.00.

Anyway - apart from that, it was a great experience. We saw the first athletics session which included Jessica Ennis in the Heptahlon, and Christine Ohoruogo in the 400m heats, as well as triple jump, shot putt, hammer and steeplechase.

We spent some time this afternoon having a look round the Olympic Park. I have to say that despite the vast crowds (over 200,000 in the Park this afternoon) everything flowed reasonably well. It really was busy though. I've certainly never seen so many people all in one place.
