Castle Howard
A fascinating afternoon spent at Castle Howard with Katie and Andrew.
It is an amazing display of untold wealth, with a gilded chapel and huge cupola over the entrance hall, fountains and lakes.
It was the setting for the filming of Brideshead Revisited.
One of the rooms described the effect of the war on the family, and my eye was caught by this version of Struwelpeter, a favourite with my children. This one pokes fun at Hitler and the Nazis!
We had a great lunch then walked around the nearby Yorkshire Arboretum.
