Gaol

I spotted this between two shops in Macclesfield town centre. I lived in Macc most of my life and I don't remember seeing it before this year.
When I was a child 'gaol' was spelled like this and now seems to have changed to the American 'jail'.
The date makes it nearly 700 years since the prison was first there.
