Lairig Ghru

This was my final blip of another full day's orienteering.  We began with a map walk at Loch Vaa, an area of vague detail which tests the juniors' abilities to keep in touch with the map, then we moved on to North Granish, one of my favourite open woodlands.  The juniors had drawn their own maps of this area, simplifying the detail to focus on the remarkable features.  Their first task was to navigate their course using their own hand drawn maps, some more successful than others and sound lessons learned.  Afterwards they ran a three person relay with gaffled legs to experience the kind of course they may face in top level competition.

It's now evening and I've just had to evacuate the building because the toaster set the alarms off!  Thankfully the system and we survived, even if the toast didn't!

Tomorrow we head to the beautiful Roseisle, fingers crossed for good weather.
