Remembering birthday flowers

I said "Janette would have said life goes on".
One who knows said "It has to, no matter how hard that may be. We just keep the love in our hearts and the memories close".
Today would have been Janette's birthday and it is too soon. The grief still too raw. But I got up, went for a swim, took piles of cake to share at work, got through the day and bought these wonderful flowers that she would have loved on the way home.
Shared photos and memories with friends and privately shed a few more tears.
Birthday tea was jerk chicken with roasted veggies, coconut rice and plenty of hot pepper sauce.

A poem
Although the wind
blows terribly here,
the moonlight also leaks
between the roof planks
of this ruined house.
