Whitby lifeboat

Today we drove from Filey to Whitby.  It was RNLI Lifeboat Weekend, so the boat was out and we were able to board it and look inside and on top.

Just imagine the bravery of the people who make up the volunteer crews of the lifeboats.  I realised a lifetime's ambition stood on the very top (the bridge?) holding the wheel, and I wondered what it must be like to head out to sea in a gale, not knowing how far the boat would have to go, how long it would take, what would be found and what would have to be done.
