Journey Through Time

Rose Lady's Dahlia (again)

Went for an early evening walk, before we plunge into the Olympic events once again. The Rose Lady, with the lovely garden that we see on our walks, also has some nice dahlias, and this is one of them. I felt the need to play in Picasa for some reason. Just messing about.

A lovely, lovely, perfect day in the Pacific Northwest but we are going to join the rest of the nation in the heat wave starting tomorrow. By Saturday, our weatherman says we should reach 98 degrees. Yikes. We will try to keep the house cool, and probably just sit quietly and watch the folks in London do their thing. If that fails, I did get Chariots of Fire to watch, as I don't believe I've only seen it the one time, when it first came out years ago. That should be fun. It is only sheer coincidence that I choose that movie, before I knew that London was using the theme song for the Olympics.

Our son did not work today as he found out he has an ear infection to go along with the eye infection. However, his eyes are much, much better and he now has some antibiotics, so that should do the trick. He is not too happy to miss most of a week of work..which means he will get a short pay check as he didn't have enough sick days to tied him over. That's what happens sometimes. I remember when I lived in Hawaii, alone in my little studio apartment and I came down with strep throat and I was so sick. I felt miserable...and I didn't have a car and I had to take the bus to the doctor and I had to wait forever to get in to see him, got some medicine for it...but he said I was going to have to take this report or sample or something downtown to report it to the Board of Health or something like that. You see, then, I was a law abiding young lady who did as she was told..so I rode the bus to the place, did whatever it was they wanted, and then made my way home. I had a fever and a sore throat and chills. If it was me now, I'd say, okay and then just go home. I've had strep throat twice in my life, both times living in Hawaii and I will remember that until the day I die. Felt like knives were ripping my throat apart.

Hope you are all well, my friends.
