Pink at FIT

NEW YORK CITY!! Arrived today and met my friend N from W Lafayette, IN, at the airport for the 27 min train ride to Penn station which was 3 blocks from the apartment we are renting for 4 days. B, from Swarthmore,, Pa got here earlier to buy some groceries and then met us on the street near the station! We first met at the University of Michigan in the spring of our freshmen year - 1959 - where we lived in a sorority house and after we graduated, lived together and worked in Chicago. Lots has happened since then --it's so totally wonderful to have so much history with such good friends!!!!
After a good dinner and walking around this Chelsea neighborhood, we walked by the Fashion Institute of Technology and had to go look at the pink Barbies in this fashion competition. It's still more than 80F after 10 pm. SO HOT for this Northwesterner! But we are excited to be here - we'll have a great time! More about these 2 later.....the academic professor and the creative writer...

PS Tatum, you would have loved all the little Barbie doll dioramas in this show ! ( I took photos of course). Something I've never seen in NY.. I'll try to blip the EMPIRE state building for you...
