Vervain
It was a good day for butterflies and I took lots of photos, but right at the end of my walk I came upon a clump of one of my favourite flowers, Verbena officinalis or vervain. It grows on calcareous soils in dry, dusty 'waste places' accompanied by a collection of dull, green ruderal species, making the clouds of pink-violet star flowers particularly welcome.
