Woodcarver

There are a lot of wasps on the wing at the moment and when it comes into August, that is prime wasp flying time... They are busily building and maintaining their nests right now, this one was breaking off dead wood from the white poplar tree above my head - I watched it break the wood off and then roll it into a sizeable ball (pictured) and then fly off with it - they're amazing 'artistes' :)
