Ongoing Work
Today has been spent continuing the work that was being done yesterday. There does not seem to have been much progress, but there has been nearly eight hours work put in. The steel L section beam fitted yesterday, has had two steel end support plates fitted, to ensure that the load is spread over a reasonable chunk of brickwork. Because there is not sufficient room, at the left-hand side of the window, to fill in the excess space, with brick, to large timber sections have been cut and screwed to the wall to make the internal aperture match the size of the window. This is all that has been done, what remains now is simply the fitting of plaster board and plaster, plus building the wall below the window up slightly and levelling it. This could be done at this stage over the next day or two, but if I do this I will have no help from my granddaughter, for other jobs which I cannot easily do without her, so this is the point at which I move on to the next window, leaving this one to be finished later.
