An interesting idea

I just finished this novel, which has a fascinating premise. What if we could project our consciousness into another body? The body of a fox, or a spider, or a whale? How could we control limbs we're not used to, what would it be like to experience senses so different from our own? The author does a brilliant job of bringing it to life.... What would you be?
