Decadent river cruise

Son number one and friend delivered safely to Stanstead in the early hours for their trip to Sweden by husband. I had a lazy get up followed by a trip to the shops to pick up nibbles for a birthday barge cruise on the Thames. The trip was part of L's extended birthday celebrations that probably began about 2 weeks ago.
We picked up our chauffeured barge by Reading bridge, had a quick safety talk and then set off towards Mapledurham. The champagne and nibbles were followed by a cream tea. The rain came when we were about halfway - a heavy downpour that had us all dashing for the comfy cabin with sofas. The sun did return eventually and we ended our trip with birthday cake with a musical candle.
