Remains

These posts are the remains of a pier and they make me think of standing stones and circles.  I have seen several of these monuments, including the Ring of Brodgar on Orkney, and there is something incredibly moving about them, to the point where I felt compelled to touch the stones, as if in some way by doing so I could be connected to the past.  One of my great grandmothers grew up about a mile away from here, so I assume she must have come down to this beach and would have seen this pier.  She died when I was about two years old so I never had the opportunity to ask her about it.
