The remorseful day
How clear, how lovely bright,
How beautiful to sight
Those beams of morning play,
How heaven laughs out with glee
Where, like a bird set free,
Up from the eastern sea
Soars the delightful day.
To-day I shall be strong,
No more shall yield to wrong,
Shall squander life no more;
Days lost, I know not how,
I shall retrieve them now;
Now I shall keep the vow
I never kept before.
— Ensanguining the skies
How heavily it dies
Into the west away;
Past touch and sight and sound,
Not further to be found,
How hopeless under ground
Falls the remorseful day.
- A.E. Houseman (1859-1936)
Another day that revolved around indecision. Quick trip to B&Q to return yesterday's purchase, and hours in front of the computer screen with index finger hovering above "confirm purchase" for a flight back to Istanbul on Monday. In the end, I decided that as long as I am here, worrying about what's happening there, this malaise ain't going anywhere, and so I pressed the button.
The photograph started off as an attempt at a visual metaphor being the vertical blinds and canopy over the patio doors, then subjected to a bit of photoshop for an abstract image on Thursday, today's theme apparently being "appearing to be water" which I didn't know until uploading the image, but think that maybe it does, well, a bit. How fortuitous.
